How to save a notepad file as PDF or HTML in Windows 10

With the default settings, Notepad in Windows 10 saves files as text files. That is, files are saved with the .txt extension.

Although text files are supported on computer and smartphone operating systems, PDF is the best format for exchanging a text file with others.

If you want to save the notepad file in any other format like PDF or HTML, you can do that as well. The best part is that you don’t need to install any third party software for this to work.

Save Notepad file as PDF in Windows 10

Step 1. Open the text file that you want to save as a PDF file in Notepad.

Step 2. After opening the file in Notepad, click the File menu and then select the Print option to open the Print dialog box.

Step 3. In the Print dialog box, select Microsoft Print to PDF as your printer under Select a printer. Then click on the “Print” button.

Step 4. The “Save Print Results” window will open. Here enter a name for the PDF file and click the Save button.

That’s all! You can now open the PDF file in any web browser or special PDF reader.

Save notepad file as HTML file on Windows 10

Step 1. In Notepad, click the File menu and then select Save As.

Step 2. In the “Save As” window that opens, enter the file name. At the end of the file name, add .html, and then select the All Files option from the Save as type drop-down menu.

Step 3.  Finally, click the “Save” button and you’re done.
